Transit Revenue Miles
Updated Using 2023 Data

Transit revenue miles is the number of annual miles of vehicle operation while in active service (available to pick up revenue-generating passengers).

Transit revenue miles are typically smaller than total transit vehicle miles because of the exclusion of deadhead miles such as vehicle miles from the garage to the start of service, vehicle miles from the end of service to the garage, driver training, and other miscellaneous miles that are not considered to be in direct revenue service.

Methodology

Methodology: Transit Revenue Miles

Transit revenue miles is the sum of annual revenue miles of vehicle operation while in active service (available to pick up revenue passengers).
